I woke up this morning to a "BOOM" noise coming from the breaker box for the whole apartment building. That was fun. Huntsville Utilities fixed the problem, but we were without power from about 9:30am to 1pm.
During that time, our future landlord called to tell us that the apartment we were supposed to move in to on July 1 won't be available for at least another month because of contractor stupidity and laziness. This is a problem because our lease at our current apartment ends June 30.
However, apparently the apartment next door to our future apartment will be vacated on July 1, so we're moving in there. It will take the landlord a day or two to clean it up and make sure it's ready to go for us, but he says that because it wasn't our fault, their company will take care of any expenses we incur while waiting on the apartment. They will also get us a storage unit if we can't get all of our stuff into this little apartment, and they'll help us move to the apartment we're supposed to get when the time is right.
All in all, things could be much, much worse. But right now, I have a pile of dishes and laundry and a lot of packing, plus a full day's work still to go. In the grand scheme of things, today isn't bad. Some day, we'll look back and laugh... right? :)
So glad it's going to work out for you. Need boxes? Bubble wrap? Used newspapers for wrapping? I have a lot that you can have if you come pick them up from me. Only about 500 miles away . . . guess not.
