- He learned that he didn't get the chemical stockroom manager job at UAH.
- Then, he thought he might be able to go to grad school at UAH and work as a TA, complete with free tuition and some money.
- Unfortunately, he was presented with the idea of grad school just a few days too late - enrollment had closed so that even professors couldn't get anyone in.
- A friend who works at a pharmaceutical manufacturing company (intentionally vague until the job application process is over!) had given his boss Justin's resume a few months ago. The boss came to the friend and asked him to find out of Justin was still available - hooray! I expect more related to this next week, Lord-willing.
- Justin's contact at House of Tutors called him last night and asked him if he's interested in teaching some ACT prep to students. She didn't mention how many, when, where, or who, but at least it's something!
- He's also been working on the lamp selling.
In the meantime, life is much the same as it was before, except that I started my August budget sheet. That involved combining all the money I'd split up into different categories (2010 taxes, car maintenance, Skype, Christmas, etc.) and smushing it into the "Emergency Fund." I found about $350 scattered around, so that's always nice! I also got paid from my TPS work in June and July.
Brittney wisely suggested selling things on Ebay, which is actually something I've looked into doing. Unfortunately, all the rules make it really hard for me to do, besides which, I don't want Ebay to take part of the money I'd be making. Craigslist has served me well thus far and I'm slowly learning the ins and outs of actually making a profit there!
I'm occasionally gently criticized for not giving more information about Justin's job search publicly - people feel kept in the dark and worry needlessly. Trust me, if there was reason to worry, you'd know. :-) However, I'm hesitant to make public specifics about where Justin is applying until he's either denied or accepted. Anyone can see whatever I post here, and I certainly don't want to lessen his chances at landing a job if, on the off chance, a potential employer stumbles across a post which mentions his company! I'm always happy to give more details via e-mail, if anyone would like to pray more specifically.
We are still praying for you! It's great that your faith hasn't wavered when it so easily could in this situation! The Lord is sovereign and He will take care of His children, even if it's not in the exact way you prayed for. I hope God continues to bless you and Justin, and we all pray for the Lord to open a door for him.
ReplyDeleteAs far as Ebay goes, there are WAY too many rules. The only reason I understand them is because my mom has been doing this longer than I have, lol.
Thanks for your encouragement, Brittney! =) I don't really have a choice but to believe that God will provide - He always has in the past, and since we don't have anything else going for us... yeah, it's a nice situation to be in for sure.
